Use this free font compressor to prepare WOFF2 files from TTF, OTF, WOFF or WOFF2. Keep every character or create a subset, then compare the actual file sizes.

In-memory processing · Immediate download

A lighter font kit

By choosing a font, you confirm that you have permission to convert it and, if selected, create a subset. Your font’s licence still applies. Usage terms.

Processing sends this font and subset text to FontReady. Application code handles them in memory and returns the result without saving font files. Privacy details.

Small file. Same intention.

Output format: WOFF2

TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 inputs supported. The result may be larger than an already optimized original.

Ready when you are.

TRY IT WITH A REAL TASK

Example: a subset for a fixed English heading

Choose Only characters in my text and enter the complete heading, including spaces, punctuation and accented letters. Process the font and compare the measured byte counts. A changing blog or multilingual website generally needs wider coverage than one heading; keep the original font.

Include the exact text: Hello, world! 2026

How to use it

  1. Choose one font up to 4 MiB. Selecting it confirms you have permission to process it.
  2. Keep all characters or enter every character needed by your content.
  3. Process, compare the measured sizes and download the result.

A few useful answers.

Is this font tool free to use?

Yes. This FontReady tool is free to use and does not require a FontReady account. A free tool does not grant a licence to the font you choose; your original font licence still applies.

Where is my font processed?

After you choose Process, the font and optional character text are sent over HTTPS to FontReady. Application code processes them in memory and returns the WOFF2 response without saving font files, creating a conversion record or a reusable download link. Hosting infrastructure may buffer requests; see the privacy notice.

Will compression always make my file smaller?

No. Already optimized WOFF2 files and small fonts may show little saving or become larger. We report actual input and output sizes, including increases.

What does subsetting remove?

It removes characters outside your chosen text, while retaining related glyphs needed by supported layout features. Include punctuation, numbers, accented letters and combining marks needed by your content. A subset cannot add missing characters.

Can I use a subset for changing website content?

Only if it covers the characters your future content needs. Test the downloaded font with your content and keep your original. Missing characters can trigger fallback rendering.
